Sato Moughalian

Orchestra Contractor

Sato Moughalian has a multi-faceted career, performing as a chamber musician, soloist, and freelance orchestral flutist, and is active in the New York new music community.  Opera News wrote: "Orchestra contractor Sato Moughalian puts together an orchestra that can outplay established ensembles in terms of style and finesse.”  Contractor for Gotham Chamber Opera since 2004, she has also contracted for Opéra Français de New York, Young People’s Chorus of New York, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, First Presbyterian Church, Gotham City Orchestra, JVC Jazz Festival, Symphony Space Wall to Wall, and the Pocket Concerto and Composer Portraits projects of Miller Theatre. As a chamber musician, Ms. Moughalian is a member of American Modern Ensemble, MAYA, a trio with harp and percussion, and Quintet of the Americas (1999-2011), and as an orchestral flutist, she has appeared as a guest with Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, American Ballet Theatre, American Symphony, among others. Ms. Moughalian has recorded chamber music for Sony Classics, Newport Classics, Albany, BIS, and New World Records, and a solo CD, The Operatic Flute with pianist Mikael Eliasen.  Ms. Moughalian is Artistic Director of Perspectives Ensemble.
